How to Use DHEA

Your provider will prescribe the DHEA form that best fits your symptoms and goals. Below are instructions for each delivery form.

DHEA Pill

Take 1 capsule by mouth daily at the same time each day, with or without food. Swallow with a glass of water.

• Starting dose: 5 mg capsule once daily
• Maximum dose: 10 mg daily

DHEA Cream

Step 1: Wash your hands before and after applying.
Step 2: Apply 2 to 4 clicks daily to the external genitalia as directed.
Step 3: Rub in evenly. Do not apply to breast tissue.

Concentration: 10 mg/gm (1%). Maximum dose: 10 mg/gm.

DHEA Vaginal Suppository

Step 1: Wash your hands before and after.
Step 2: Insert 1 suppository vaginally at bedtime daily as directed. Mild leakage is normal; a panty liner may help.

• Starting dose: 2.5 mg suppository daily
• Available strengths: 2.5 mg and 5 mg; maximum dose 10 mg

Dose Adjustments

Dose changes may be requested only after 90 days on your current dosage if no benefits have been reported. All changes are at the discretion of your prescriber.
